Warm Spirit

LONDON: If you practise Yoga regularly you will know that winter time is not ideal for this practise. Follow my tips, keep warm and boost your immune system, for example with a freshly squeezed pomegranate juice every morning or one of my favourite juices from the Glow Juice Bar on Melrose Ave. in West Hollywood.

MY TIPS: Start your morning practise not too early, it helps to practise in a sunny daylight room as the days are shorter now.

Surround yourself with warm colours to lift your spirit – I found this lovely bowl in Istanbul.

Use a good thin yoga mat, my favorite is by Jade/Yoga, it is only three millimeters thick and can travel easily. You can cover it with a turkish towel which I order at Avacasa.

Spend a few weeks in India to improve your practise, for example at the Yoga teacher training Drishti Yoga International in Goa (you have to be advanced to participate).

Ask your Yoga teacher for asanas which warm the centre of your body and enhance circulation in the womb. I was inspired by Christy Turlington’s pose.

Dress warmly when you go to your training. I like Halle Berry’s hat and Drew Barrymore wearing her Uggs.

Enjoy your shavasana and rest your head on one of Rifat Özbek’s cushions which you can buy at his newly opened interior shop in London now.

And after all eat warm and spicy. I find the best recipes on my most favorite webpage, greenkitchenstories.com. They have found the essence of healthy and tasteful cooking and inspire you with seasonally adapted recipes every other week.
