FLORENCE: Whenever I visit a city during the hot summer months, I make sure to stay somewhere outside the city center where I can relax after a day downtown. So I  escape to the fragrant hills of Fiesole, a 15-minute drive from the city centre of Florence, and check in to the Hotel Salviatino.

This beautiful building stands in 11 acres of olive trees, vines and conifers. Each of the 45 rooms and suites feel like you live at someone’s private Palazzo and the garden has a magnetic effect onme. I love to sit on the terrace at sunset and watch the sun go down while enjoying a chilled prosecco with white peaches before I go out in the city to my favorite trattoria. If you are too tired to drive down the hill I suggest to order the spaghetti with duck stewed in Chianti and for dessert the homemade grape cake.
