Irmas Diary

Natalia Barbeieri, who is the owner and designer of the Italian shoe brand Bionda Castana answered these questions for me as I was curious to know about her shoe keeping:

1. Where do you get your inspiration from when you start sketching your collection?

Day to day, our friends, films, travelling, culture – anything really, but it is predominantly our gut feeling. Once we research, we then create a mood board with images of anything that inspires us.

2. What is the first thing you are thinking of when you get dressed in the morning?

Living in London, the only answer is, “Is it going to rain today?”

3. During the day, do your change your shoes?

I must admit that am in high heels from morning to night. But if I am not in meetings that particular day, I will slip into our Bionda Castana biker MARGO boots that we designed for FW12. Super lux and on trend.

4. Flat or high heels, when you have to walk around all day?

For walking around ALL day, I would recommend our pointed flats called VALERIA. They are edgy with a zip chain detail around the trim, very chic and super comfortable. There are so many wonderful flat and mid heel shoes in the range, that one doesn’t need to be in towering heels all day long. It’s called being sensible!

5. How do you take care of your shoes and how do you store them?

I always keep them in their box with tissue paper stuffed inside each shoe so that the shoes keep their shape when not on the foot. Each box has a photo of the shoes on the outside of it so when they are stored, you can see exactly which pair of shoes is in the box. The only way to keep them stored, in my opinion.

WHERE IS IRMA NOW?

MUNICH

When in Munich my
favorite store to look
for the best selection
of clothes is THERESA.
The staff is competent
