Sleep Well

A supremely comfortable bed

DÜSSELDORF: You will recognize a good hotel by the quality of sleep and rest that you get during your first night. Is the room well ventilated? How is the view from your window and is the layout of the room and bathroom well done? Is the lighting smooth and relaxing, and will you be treated with a perfect breakfast in the morning?

At the Hyatt Regency in Düsseldorf I found all these aspects fulfilled when I stayed there last night. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the view across the harbour impressing right from my bed. The ventilation and air was perfect, although from the 19th floor I could only barely open my window due to security reasons. All this comes as no surprise because in 2011 the newly built Hyatt Regency won an award from the DGNB for the sustainable hotel building. The ecological concept uses the groundwater for the entire air conditioning system and facilities. The stole and enamel which is used in the bathrooms is entirely recyclable and the disposal, packaging and transportation of hotel good is extremely eco-friendly.

There are even 40,000 honey bees which live and work from the hotel’s rooftop during the summer to make the delicious ‘Hafengold’, a very mild and tasty golden honey which I enjoyed on my toast in the morning. How can you not sleep well in such a well conceived environment?
