House Beauty

LONDON: Now as the days are getting shorter I like to spend time in my house and my bathroom is my most favorite place. It is the room with the highest temperature in the house and warm lighting gives me the perfect cocoon feeling.
Make use of this room and convert it into your home spa with a little help of highly professional beauty products. I love the Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nourishing Oil-in- Cream and the Oléo Relax shampoo and conditioning series for my hair.
I mostly use opulent essential oils and serums to tone and protect my skin and professional tools like a strong blow dryer, tweezers and electric eyelash curler are absolutely necessary to get good results. Take advantage of this time saving solution and use the cold winter days to focus on your beauty rituals.
You will certainly keep on making appointments at your favorite spa or hair salons, also to get new ideas and inspiration for your own private spa room.

Breakfast before Noon

LAKE TEGERNSEE: I am still in the countryside and as you already know I enjoy inviting friends to my house. The usual invitation would be a Sunday lunch or a Friday night dinner. But this weekend I will organise a typical Bavarian Weißwurst Frühstück which consists of freshly made Weißwürste (white sausages), which you have to buy at a good butcher, because every butcher has his own recipe and some are better than others. You drink a chilled Weißbier for breakfast and eat some freshly baked pretzels. Do not forget the sweet mustard which should not be too sweet.

The cooking is easy – you just boil the water, switch off the heat and let the sausages steep for a while. For dessert I make a rich dark chocolate cake instead of a Bavarian cream because I think that the sweet bitter chocolate is the perfect ending for that meal. Make sure you have the best ingredients for that simply and quick made breakfast. I buy my sausages at Metzgerei Killer in Dürnbach, Miesbacher Straße 3 in Gmund am Tegernsee, the pretzels at Bäckerei Grabmaier, Marktplatz 8 in Miesbach, Hopf Weißbier, and organic sweet mustard from Byodo.

FROM TOP LEFT TO BOTTOM RIGHT: My flourless 85% dark chocolate cake which only bakes for 10 minutes, Lake Tegernsee, you might enjoy a freshly squeezed pomegranate juice before you start your breakfast, the beautiful and tasty white sausages which have been found already at the beginning of the 19th century in French cook books under the name ‘Boudin Blanc’, a good oven and Le Creuset cooking pot is essential

Best Spa at the Lake

TEGERNSEE: Lately I am fascinated by the countryside of the bavarian lake Tegernsee. It gives me great pleasure to go hiking up the hills and recharge my batteries. The perfect ending of a day up in the mountains is the PRIVATE TIME at the Spa of the Hotel DAS TEGERNSEE which has an in and outdoor pool overlooking the beauty full lake. The PRIVATE Spa TIME can be individually composed for your personal needs and if you wish you can be treated with the homegrown remedies and herbs which are being used in most of the products during the treatment. After my spa experience I swim inside out the heated outdoor pool and breathe the fresh alpine air before enjoying n evening in the valley, Tegernseer Tal.

From top left to bottom right: The beautiful newly restored in- and outdoor pool of the hotel DAS TEGERNSEE, try to go for a long walk or hike before you enjoy a massage at the spa, home-grown herbs from the countryside are being used in massage oils and beauty masks, use natural scented oils or perfumes before or after your treatment to enlighten your senses, back home in my house checking my glow the mirror

Last Blossom

TEGERNSEE: I have to admit it: I pick flowers wherever I can. I think that naturally grown blossoms, bushes, trees and leaves are so much more beautiful than the kind of bouquets you can buy in flower shops. Over the top designed creations and flower installations in too dominant vases don’t catch my eye. I aim for the true blossom, the one I find in the jardins publics, the woods or even my neighbour’s garden. Don’t worry, I am not a thief. I shower my neighbour with compliments of his green thumb and whenever I see him he cuts a wild rose or a branch of his bush and hands it to me with a proud smile. I am very lucky, I also have a garden of my own. It is a typical farmer’s garden with lots of wild flowers growing everywhere. It is the kind of garden where you do not have to be present all the time to water the plants or to groom the lawn. It just grows by itself thanks to lots of rain we have even during the summer months.

Two weeks ago I picked the last flowers in my garden and enjoyed making bouquets for each room of my house. From now on there will be no more flowers in my house until spring. I use just naked limbs or some fir tree or leave my colourful vases empty. Or I use my porcelain flowers on the dinner table, flower-inspired candle holders or my flowery prints which gets me in the mood just until spring comes back.

From top left to right: Crystal vase by Ashprey, London, vintage candle holder, 1972 from Vallauris, flowers from my garden in a vintage vase I have bought in Santa Monica, table for lunch with porcelain flowers, walnuts and marzipan fruits from Sicily, flowery scents and motifs for the early night in winter, white lilies mixed with bushes from my neighbour, flowery materials, last apples, too beautiful to take inside....

The Second Coming

PARIS: Maison Martin Margiela’s full collection for H&M has been revealed, and the clothing and accessories are true to the avant-garde fashion house’s signature style.

The collection consists of mostly reissued pieces from the Margiela archives, and these garments definitely embody the classic oversize silhouettes, deconstructed styling and incorporation of found objects the house became famous for. But while prices for original Margiela pieces can reach thousands of dollars, prices for this collaboration run from $13 to $399.

Several pieces are fusions of more than one type of garment. One of the women’s bottoms melds a skirt with trousers; elsewhere, halves of two different dresses are combined. The house also turned everything from key rings, locks of hair, and faceless watches into inventive accessories.

Have a look at H&M stores from Thursday on and be quick to pick your favorite pieces.
