Summer Party

LONDON: I am invited to a summer party in my friend’s opulent garden and my thoughts are turning around what to wear. Coming back lately from the Paris Spring 2013 Couture Shows, I feel very inspired. Look around in good vintage shops, antique markets and your own closet to find unique pieces. A pair of new couture buttons, a lace trim or a beautiful velvet ribbon from Mokuba will make a difference…

Tasty Revolution

Tasty and unusual flavors

“Agents of cool”

LONDON: The Icecreamists boutique ice cream parlor in Covent Garden is the English answer to Italian Gelato. They have definitely started an ice cream revolution after serving up the flavor Baby Gaga made using breast milk, which was sold out in seconds although the price was £20 for a scoop. Another interesting flavor is the Vice Lolly, which is made from Absinthe and Holy Water from Lourdes. Because of the cost of the holy water, the price for one scoop of Vice Lolly is £18.58. But my favorite flavor is more classic: The Choc & awe dark chocolate which is made with 70% Guanaja chocolate for £6. Although I have never bought an ice-cream for that amount of money before, it is still worth visiting the parlor with its sex, drugs and rock and roll attitude and decor. And I am always curious what new flavors they might have today…

NEW YORK: Don Freeman is an American photographer, best known for his large, monochrome prints that depict subject matter, be it landscape, human forms or architectural fragments. I admire his work mostly and looking at his photographs of interiors gives me a pleasant feeling. I am taken by the atmosphere he captures with light and simplicity so that a simple rooms becomes a set, a state of mind.

Don Freeman lives in New York where he divides his time between fine art photography, commercial photography and filmmaking. Don’s photographs have appeared regularly in Vogue, House Beautiful, Vanity Fair and other magazines.

His current projects, a book for Abrams titled Artists’ Handmade Houses and a film called Living Art will document his love for the artist’s home and show off his talent for capturing interiors, objects and his favorite subject of all: light.

LONDON: Two buses containing American and Australian athletes got lost this morning even though their route was supposed to be fast-tracked by the implementation of the Olympic lane on the M4.
Speaking about the incident, London Mayor Boris Johnson quipped: “Clearly they would have had even more of an opportunity to see even more of the city than they might otherwise have done.”
Right he is, and my advice is to take your running shoes if you want to get around town during the Olympic Games in London starting from the 25th of July. Another wise choice is the tube but I still prefer to get going myself whenever I want wherever I go and at the same time fresh air and exercise is the better choice.

SAN FRANCISCO: Just in case it will rain this July wherever you are, cover yourself with one of these chic options below. In fact, I do not mind the rain drops falling on me. It cleanses the air, waters the flowers and makes a new beginning for a sunny day.
