Sustainable Chic

Top Neomi by NOIR
Young English actress Emma Watson has continued to build her green icon status with the release of the eco-friendly capsule collection “Pure Threads” that she imagined with Alberta Ferretti, the famous Italian luxury ready-to-wear label.
EDUN, fashion label founded by Bono and Ali Hewson
Osklen uses the most innovative eco-fabrics in his collections, such as pupunha wood, fish skin and PET from recycled plastic bottles.
Fashion designer Alice Temperley has teamed up with Environmental Justice Foundation for a campaign to end child labour in cotton production
Osklen is Brazil’s pioneer in the new luxury movement, their clothes come in a wide range of fabrics, from high-tech fibers to the finest silk.

SAO PAULO: Have you ever asked yourself what material your clothes are made of and under which conditions they are produced? You are conscious about the ingredients of your food and the paint you put on your wall, but how can you be relaxed and careless about the garment you are wearing? Who made it, which colours are used and what is the material really made of which is right on your skin?

This is why I visited the Sustainable Luxury Fair in Paris a few weeks ago and I was impressed with what I learned about materials and production when it comes to Green Fashion. It is cool to wear something which has a lasting impression and is a beautiful fashionable piece at the same time. Now I think differently when I walk down the High Streets to quickly buy a fashionable piece for less cash …

Seaside Attractions

The rugged coastline is ideal for long walks
Picking wild mussels
Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen in Cornwall
Surf’s up – a view from Fifteen
Spectacular sunsets over the Lizard Peninsula
The hotel’s new Vista lounge
Cuddle up with a book
Surrounded by cliffs and the sea – The Polurrian Bay Hotel

MULLION, CORNWALL: Just a few days in Cornwall are always enough for my mind and body to relax. From the Polurrian Bay Hotel, which is perched high up on a cliff, I take long walks along the Cornwall Coastal Path, which starts right the doorstep and leads past rugged cliffs and secluded coves. I woke up this morning completely refreshed, after the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks had lulled me to sleep last night.

In the afternoon I will be driving over to the west coast to pay a visit to the Tate St. Yves and stroll through the village’s many artists’ studios and galleries. Afterwards I’m meeting friends for dinner at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen in Watergate Bay. The menu is always different, but the Cornish seafood dishes are a sure hit.

High Tea

View across the gardens towards the Fowey Estuary
Cream tea and scones at Fowey Hall
Fowey Hall

FOWEY, CORNWALL: I have always loved the great English tradition of high tea, and today I am enjoying it with a view to match. On the terrace of Fowey Hall, perched high above the small Cornish fishing village of Fowey, they serve a delicious cream tea, cucumber and salmon sandwiches, little tarts and freshly baked scones with clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam. Fowey Hall is one of my favourite hotels in Cornwall, set in a beautiful 19th century mansion and surrounded by sprawling gardens. Pine trees frame the view of the whitewashed houses and the boats bobbing in the harbour – it’s a panorama that always reminds me of the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

Beauty Flight

Biologique Recherche at the Air France Lounge at the Charles de Gaulles Airport, Paris
My favorite product, the P50 Lotion
The Beauty institute off the Champs Elysées in Paris

PARIS: Taking an Air France flight from Paris to New York will no longer be a waste of time. Since recently First Class passengers are able to pamper and boost their skin before they board their flight at the new Biologique Recherche Air France Lounge at the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. Before leaving the Beauty Lounge I will receive an array of Biologique serums which can be used while high above the sky, and by the time I land in NYC my glow is almost perfect.
Biologique Recherche uses the medical clout of trained physician Dr. Philippe Allouche, whose parents, Yvan and Josette Allouche, started the company back in the 70s, to ensure products work on the epidermis itself, making the skin function better and meaning results are longer lasting. Investing in a facial treatment before you go to your next party is a good investment and buying a few beauty products will show long-lasting results. My must-have is the P50 Lotion which mattifies and tones my skin every morning.
