LONDON: Be inspired by fairy tales this week. Read them, imagine them and make them your own. All you need is your laptop and your imagination. Start on a weekday morning after your first cup of tea.

Spotlight On

LONDON: Next time you go out, make the crowd turn heads and wear haute couture for you night out dancing. I go to 69, Colebrooke Row in Islington; it’s members only but contact Order a Lipstick Roses Cocktail (raspberry and violet syrup with rose vodka and topped with champagne). Before you leave the house, get in the mood and look at fashion drawings like for example in the new book “Christian Lacroix and the Tale of Sleeping Beauty” by Camilla Morton (HarperCollins).

On Pointe

Painting by Degas

LONDON: I am looking at Marie van Goethem, the ‘little dancer’ bronze by Degas at the Royal Academy (September 17 to December 11). I am still fascinated by ballet, especially after reading the book, “The Everyday Dancer” (Faber) written by Deborah Bull, the former creative director of the London Royal Opera House. She describes the punitive life of the dancer, from childhood to pas de deux to cruelly young retirement.

LONDON: Now the season has begun where you cannot leave the house in your ballerinas without socks and a just a t-shirt. Cover up and get warm but keep it loose and simple; Put your coat on, your iPod on PLAY and go for a long walk in the park near you.
