Looking Good

SILS MARIA: Getting ready for New Year’s Eve can be tricky. Too much make-up makes you a different person and a too natural look lacks of glamour and glitter. Therefore work from the base and have a make-up artist take care of it. Luis Huber from Munich selected my make-up for a night at a friend’s chalet followed by lots of dancing at King’s Club in St. Moritz. Be well prepared and visit Luis before the big night out to give you some ideas.

My make-up with products from Diego dalla Palma:
Compact powder foundation no. 70
Special tanning cake no. 95, as modelling powder for rouge and eyebrows
Powder blush no. 11 to apply on cheekbones, on top of the tanning cake
Eyes: eye pencil no. 17, eye shadow 62 and eye shadow 18
Mascara: mascara gogo no. 91
Eyeliner: compact color liner, black
Lips: lip pencil no. 71, gloss your lips with no. 13

Read Me

Marilyn reading

MIESBACH: Finally, the best present of all: time. I have a pile of books next to my desk which I will read all day long in the next few weeks. Another good thing about holidays.

MY READING LIST:

  • THE PRAGUE CEMETERY by Umberto Eco, for the beautiful language.
  • 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, for his simmering world with a surreal creeping malevolence
  • SAUL BASS: A LIFE IN FILM & DESIGN by Laurence King, for your graphic fix
  • LE DIEU DU CARNAGE by Yasmina Reza, for the match of the film by Roman Polanski
  • VOGUING AND THE BALLROOM SCENE OF NEW YORK by Soul Jazz, for everyone who loves New York, the clubs and Madonna at the time being
  • THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO by Stieg Larsson, for another good book which comes with a cool film by David Fincher (Academy Award winner) starring Daniel Craig
  • TRANSWONDERLAND: TRAVELS IN NIGERIA by Saro-Wiwa, for my next travel to Africa’s most most populous country
  • DIE VIELEN LEBEN DER PAULA FOX: EIN PORTRAIT von Bernadette Conrad von Beck. For a great biography of the dramatic life and a formidable willpower of the American author Paula Fox

TOKYO: If I can, I go Christmas shopping in Tokyo because everything gets wrapped so wonderfully, artfully and uniquely especially during the festive season. The sight of a carefully wrapped present is already a treat. Shopping also makes you very hungry and it just makes sense to stop by The GOLDEN BROWN burger joint in the neighbourhood of Nakameguro. This neon-free corner shop, which has been hand-painted by artist NUTS, serves excellent Australian burgers on light buns made of wild yeast.
